One of the biggest games of the year, Arc Raiders, is nearing its first progression wipe. This extraction shooter is doing things a little differently by offering it as an option for players in exchange for some useful upgrades. However, not all details about this procedure have been made clear until today.
Players opting to wipe their character will gain the Patchwork Raider outfit, a Janitor Cap for Scrappy the chicken, an indicator icon showing the Expeditions level, and 12 extra stash spaces, as well as extra skill points (depending on remaining coins) as permanent upgrades to the profile.
“When the Expedition departs, all items in your Raider’s stash will be contributed toward it,” says Embark, explaining how to get the extra skill points. “Your next Raider can earn up to five skill points based on the total value of your Stash and Coins at the time of departure. One million Coins worth of value equals one extra skill point for your new Raider.”
Meanwhile, three temporary buffs will be applied to the new character, which will last until the next Expedition in a couple of months’ time. This includes a 10% repair buff, 5% XP boost, and 6% more materials from Scrappy. Moreover, choosing to complete future expeditions without skipping will buff these boosts further.

What will be reset are the skill tree, character level, the stash, workshop unlocks, crafting abilities from skills, and found blueprints.
Don’t forget that the Expedition project also takes a whole lot of loot and resources to finish, so casual players may not be able to gain the skill points, worth millions, if they haven’t been saving up from the beginning. As expected, some players in the community have been caught off guard by the steep cost.
The studio also announced a small delay for the first Expedition’s start. The window to send off your Arc Raiders character will now begin on December 17, with a six-day period available, until December 22, to lock in for wiping. This is how players can begin the journey again with the promised upgrades.
