My favorite PC upgrade improved everything, and it wasn’t the GPU

I’m obsessed with PC hardware and adjacent display tech. I didn’t need a super ultrawide monitor until I worked from home with one. On that note, I didn’t realize what I was missing out on until I picked up the coolest PC case I’ve ever laid eyes upon.

The Hyte Y70 Infinite Touch is a high-end, mid-tower case that lets you show off your rig’s components in compelling style. I’ve built some nice-looking systems over the last couple of decades, but I’ve never been happier with how any of my custom desktops have looked than my current Hyte Y70 mega PC.

If you’re looking to spruce up your own system, I highly suggest you invest in a case that lets you bask in the components you’ve no doubt sunk a serious chunk of change into. The Hyte Y70 is one of the best upgrades I’ve ever treated my system to.

I always do these 4 things after a new PC build before I consider it actually ready

Relax, this isn’t as complicated as it sounds.

The PC case of my dreams

I cherish every component in my PC. Alright, maybe upgrading to 64GB of DDR5 RAM was a mistake. The combination of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 and AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D allows me to enjoy some of my favorite Steam games at 4K/120 FPS with path tracing enabled. Yet as much as I cherish owning the best graphics card and gaming processor on the planet, I take an equal amount of joy in the shell my rig is housed inside.

The first time I saw the Hyte Y70 Touch Infinite on YouTube, I knew I needed it in my life. As much as I appreciated my previous build’s case (the Corsair Crystal 680X), the Y70 is next level.

Where to start? A super-useful dual-chamber layout that lets me hide all of my PSU cables away. Stunning tempered glass panels that wrap around the case in eye-alluring panoramic fashion. Oh, and the fact that my red model looks like something Tony Stark would put the finishing touches on after a long night of building the Hulkbuster.

This case not only looks amazing to my eyes (though if it looks gaudy to your particular peepers, I get it), it also allows my PC to run quietly, coolly, and efficiently. But I’ll get to that shortly.

A killer case with its own touchscreen

Do you really need a PC case with its own screen? Obviously not. If you think such an addition is on par with keeping time on a Rolex entirely constructed of broken-up bits of Toblerone, I’m not going to overly rail against your opinion.

All that said, hoo-boy, do I love owning a PC case with its own display. The Hyte Y70 Infinite differentiates itself from the rest of the manufacturer’s range because of said panel. As much as I appreciate the overall aesthetics of Hyte’s premier case, it was that 14.9-inch, 2.5K/60Hz touchscreen that ultimately made me take the plunge on the Y70 Infinite.

Are there slight issues in owning a PC case with a screen? Sure. The one that occasionally grinds my gears is when my Nvidia Control Panel settings see fit to launch Steam Big Picture Mode on the Y70 Infinite’s display, rather than a TV that’s so good that I replaced my monitor with it. More than I’d like, my rig somewhat bafflingly identifies the Y70’s screen as my primary display.

Thankfully, this multi-screen setup issue isn’t one that arises all that often. For the vast majority of the time, the Y70 Infinite’s touchscreen is something to be marveled at. Whether watching a constantly shimmering fish tank courtesy of the Hyte Nexus app or enjoying one of the thousands of carefully curated backgrounds via Wallpaper Engine, I love those times when the Y70’s flashy screen forces the corners of my eyes to give it maximum attention.

Components are king

My PC’s mid-tower case lets me appreciate the components that make it such a beast in an effortless style. If you don’t own a case with glass panels, I strongly suggest you look into picking one up.

So many modern PC components focus on showy RGB lighting effects (be it RAM or GPUs), and if you can’t see inside your rig, those effects are obviously wasted. If you prefer a minimalist design with no side distractions, I respect that. Yet the Hyte Y70 Infinite isn’t a case that’s solely style over substance.

The included PCIe Riser cable is very much appreciated, as it lets you mount your GPU vertically inside Hyte’s case. Yet that’s more of a visual upgrade than a performance-based one. The one area I’m most thankful for regarding the Y70’s design is the thought Hyte has put into accommodating the most exhaustive cooling measures.

Why the Y70’s cooling layout matters more than the looks

I’ve installed a NZXT Kraken 360 RGB liquid CPU cooler and a duo of NZXT F360 RGB Core 360mm fans inside the Y70. For context, this case can accommodate up to 10 360mm mounted fans. Considering we live in an age where 4K path-traced PC games would very happily set your processor on fire without proper cooling, I take great comfort in the Y70 allowing me to install a comprehensive fan setup that protects my gaming chip.

The Hyte Y70 Infinite combines visually appealing form with sensible function. Not only does it allow me to show off my RTX 5090 in a carbonite-cool way, but it also provides the structure for a fantastic CPU cooling config. If you can’t afford a new GPU or CPU for your rig right now but still crave an appreciable upgrade, I say treat yourself to a dual-chamber, tempered glass case.

Supporting ATX motherboards, the Hyte Y60 is a mid-tower PC case that offers panoramic views of the inside of the case, allowing you to marvel at your rig in all its glory with RGB fans, RAM, and more. The Hyte Y60’s antechamber design means all your cables can be tidied and tucked away out of site.
