Following Microsoft and Nintendo, Sony is bringing in its first games showcase of 2026 later this week. This will be one of the longest State of Play events ever.
Sony is the latest video game publisher to announce a major game showcase for 2026. The PlayStation maker revealed today that its first State of Play event of the year will be happening later this week, and it will carry over an hour of features from both first- and third-party development teams.
The first State of Play of 2026 will be going live on February 12, Thursday, at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST. Fans can catch the show across Sony’s YouTube and Twitch channels as usual.
The company did not say exactly what they plan to show during this showcase, but it is set to be over an hour long, making it one of the biggest State of Play events it has ever held.
“Tune in live this Thursday for 60+ minutes of news, gameplay updates, and announcements from game studios across the globe,” said Tim Turi, content communications manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment. “February’s State of Play will spotlight eye-catching third-party and indie games headed to PS5, along with the latest from teams at PlayStation Studios.”
As Sony mentioned first-party PlayStation developers, there is a good chance of Insomniac’s Wolverine making another appearance. The title is set to be released in fall 2026 but does not have a firm launch date attached to it yet. Housemarque’s next roguelike action game, Saros, and Bungie’s Marathon are good candidates for appearances too.
Guerrilla Games, the PlayStation studio behind the Horizon and Killzone franchises, revealed its multiplayer-only title Horizon Hunters Gathering last week. There is a chance of the game making another appearance at the event too. It’s unclear why Sony decided to reveal the live service title ahead of the State of Play.

Video game fans have so far received two major game showcases from console makers in 2026. January brought in the Xbox Developer_Direct event from Microsoft, while Nintendo held one of its Direct presentations just last week. The year is looking like it’s going to be a packed one.
